LIQUID FILLER IS HELPING VINEGAR PRODUCER’S EXPANSION PLANS - 13/10/2003

The simple operation and the ability to add extra filling heads were two crucial factors in Drywite Ltd’s decision to install a four head VH liquid filler from Universal Filling Machines at the end of last year and already the company has taken advantage of the possibilities for expansion by ordering two further filling heads to keep up with demand for its products.

Drywite vinegar is found in fish and chip shops throughout the UK, with the company supplying its products to all the major catering wholesalers that service this market. In addition Drywite has established a healthy export business with its products in demand in most European countries, especially Belgium, Holland, Italy and Germany. Works Manager at Drywite, Ray Singer says that while he had been familiar with the Universal range for some time, it was a visit to the PPMA Show in Birmingham that let him compare the various liquid filling systems available. The Universal VH came out as top choice as not only is it simple to operate but features such as the stainless steel construction, slide out drawers giving access to the mechanical components and electrics, plus the fully enclosed drip tray make it very easy to clean and maintain. Flexibility was another factor, as although the unit is only being used to fill bottles of vinegar at the moment, the plan is to transfer other products to the new filler as product changes can be carried out quickly on the VH. However, at present demand for the vinegar has increased rapidly and the additional two filling heads have increased production by 45%. This will provide Drywite with the extra capacity to fill other products on the machine if required. Ray Singer says the Universal VH was definitely the right choice for his company and it has lived up to his expectations as far as performance and expandability are concerned.
